Jerry "Keith" Keene Obituary

Jerry "Keith" Keene, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on May 24, 1957, in Ogden, Utah, Keith's life was marked by his humor, kindness, and the handy touch he brought to everything he did.

Keith is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Firm, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring partnership. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Amy Uzzardo, and her husband Vincent, his son Jakob Keene, his daughter Michael Best, and his son-in-law Jonathan, and his daughter Renee Ruchlewicz. His legacy continues through his eight adoring grandchildren, who will miss their grandfather's playful spirit and warm embrace. Keith also leaves behind his brothers, Fletcher and William "Kip" Keene, who will fondly remember their brother's laughter and love for life.

For many years, Keith served as an electrical inspector for Hillsborough County, where his expertise and dedication were well respected. His colleagues knew him as a man who could always be relied upon, both for his professional acumen and his ability to lighten the mood with a well-timed joke.

Keith's interests were as varied as they were passionate. He had an enduring love for classic cars, often spending weekends attending car shows or tinkering under the hood of his own cherished vehicles. Fishing trips and golf outings were among his favorite ways to unwind and connect with nature and friends. Traveling was another joy for Keith; he relished the opportunity to explore new places and create lasting memories with his family.

A regular at the "ROMEO's" (Retired Old Men Eating Out) breakfast gatherings, Keith's presence was a bright spot in the mornings of many. There, he shared stories, laughter, and camaraderie with a close-knit group of friends who will deeply miss his company.

Those who knew Keith would describe him as not just funny and kind, but also remarkably handy. He had a natural ability to fix anything that was broken and often did so with a smile, offering his skills to anyone in need.

In reflecting on Keith's life, the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson come to mind: "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to leave the world a bit better... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Keith embodied this sentiment, touching the lives of many with his generosity and warmth.

As we say goodbye to Jerry "Keith" Keene, we celebrate a life lived with joy, a heart given freely to others, and a spirit that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. His laughter, love, and light will be remembered always.

A visitation will take place for family on Friday January 19, 2024 from 8:30am to 9:30am at Haught Funeral Home 708 W. Dr. MLK Jr. blvd
Plant City, FL. 33563. A Memorial Service will follow at 9:30am.
